When CNBC.com’s Albert Bozzo called to ask me my professional opinion about how White House and other “official spokespersons” about the economy were communicating, I drew an analogy with how similar personnel had handled Hurricane Katrina. He seemed to like that angle and this story resulted.
I did get one somewhat angry CNBC reader write to me and say that instead of criticizing governmental leaders for poor communication skills, I should bemoan how dumb Americans were getting that they couldn’t understand the Wall Street-level and Congressional internal warnings that had been discussed for the past couple of years.
I noted that its the job of effective communicators to make their messages AVAILABLE and COMPREHENSIBLE to ALL audiences, not just elite ones.
What a concept, huh?
